Instead of football, basketball, or baseball, let’s take a moment to focus on the odd and wacky sports that offer a different type of entertainment. These include bizarre and unusual events such as cheese rolling and the wife carrying a cheese rolling bag.

With that in mind, here are some of the most exciting sports you may not know about.

Lawn Mower Racing

Lawnmower racing is a real-world sport that involves people racing modified lawnmowers. Racers use their original engines – but with one significant change. They all have their blades removed for safety. One of the more famous events is called the Twelve Mile 500, which takes place every year on the Fourth of July in Indiana. The race features a sixty-lap course designed to allow thirty-three drivers to compete each time. Each team has its driver and pit crew members, and the participants must reach speeds of at least 30 MPH to qualify.

Floorball

If you’ve got outstanding hand-eye coordination, you may enjoy playing a game of floorball. It’s similar to hockey and lacrosse in that it involves using a curved stick to control the ball while trying to score in the net. It was first introduced in the 1970s.

Sepak takraw

Like volleyball, Sepak takraw is similar in that it involves passing the ball between two teams and trying to score points when it hits the other team’s ground. Unlike these other sports, this game requires players to use their feet, knees, and head to play. The rules of this sport are similar to those of volleyball, except that the hands and arms are entirely prohibited. In addition to being fun, Sepak takraw also has a strange playing style.

Kabaddi

The national sport of Bangladesh, known as kabaddi, is a contact team sport that involves two teams of men and women. Teams try to get around their opponents by using their offensive player, known as the raider. They are tasked with going after the opposing team’s defensive players and safely returning to their side of the court. Over 40 countries are members of the governing body of this sport.

Cheese Rolling

In England, each spring, people race each other down a hill in the town of Gloucestershire to get their hands on the best cheese. The event, which is known as Cooper’s Hill Cheese-Rolling and Wake, has been around since 1826. Due to the many people attending the event, it’s no longer officially supported. However, the race has continued to grow.
